This type of food acts on the brain in a similar way to drugs. Being very tasty on the palate, they activate the mechanisms of pleasure. You start and you don't want to stop.
That statement that there are foods that create addiction is "correct," admits Dr. Iván Ibáñez, of the unit of nutritional medicine, exercise and antiaging of the Clinica Planas. "Nothing is pleasant if there is no sense of well-being and the same thing happens with the flavors of food," says Dr. Ibáñez.
In addition, the flavors of food have been more accentuated to attract the consumer's palate, modifying its original taste (ham fries, worms with ketchup), its texture and even its color, to make them more attractive. And this is more important than it seems, because the taste (and smell) of food influences our mood.
Junk food attracts glucose and fat, due to its high caloric value. It is an atavistic instinct. When the man had to hunt for food and could spend a few days without eating, he looked for fat-rich foods to ensure the necessary calories.
